Italian throttleman, Mauro Esperto, returns to Class 1 action at this weekend's Egyptian Grand Prix in Porto Marina, to partner Norwegian, Kolbjorn Selmer, who made his Class 1 debut at the last race in Mamaia, in boat number 2, carrying the colours of new sponsor Fainplast.

Mauro made his offshore powerboat racing debut in 1980 alongside his Father, Franco in the Bastia-Viarregio-Bastia as navigator. He later worked on race boats and made his Class 3 debut in 1989. Between 1992 and 1994 he competed in the Middle East Class 3, 6litre championship with Felix Serralles and finished runner up in the Class 3 Italian Championship in 1997, winning it a year later. He stepped up to Class 1 in 1999 partnering Giampaolo Montavoci. Mauro has competed in 28 Grand Prix, his last in Doha in 2006 and this season has been competing in Class 3.
