British GP fails to make the official calendar
Posted On: 24 Jan 2008 - 11:31
For the second consecutive year Plymouth is to miss out on a Class 1 race. The 10 race 2008 season sees visits to Qatar, Montenegro, Spain (provisional), Norway, Ukraine (provisional), Romania, Egypt, Bahrain(provisional) and two races in the UAE. This is a disappointment to us here at class1uk.co.uk and, as a result, we have decided to put off the scheduled website facelift. Instead we plan to launch a new site in support of Honda 4 Stroke powerboat racing which is taking place in the UK. Watch this space!

Official Press Release on the 2008 Calendar:

The 2008 WPPA Class 1World Powerboat Championship looks set to be as enthralling and as captivating as ever, with the International Offshore Team Association announcing a ten-race calendar, new teams and new driver-pairings, with the Montenegrin City of Budva heading the list of new venues and countries signing up to host a round of the world's leading powerboat championship.

Last season's Qatar Grand Prix produced a pivotal moment in the race for the world title and this year it is Doha where the teams will line up for the 2008 season opener. The Class 1 fleet then heads to Europe for five races before heading back to the Middle East for four further races and the traditional back-to-back end of season double-header in Dubai.
