Plymouth Powerboat Fun Weekend
Posted On: 11 Mar 2008 - 18:55
Plymouth businessman Richard George is organising two days of 'pleasure power boating' in the waters of Plymouth Sound this weekend (15th and 16th March) as a warm up before the Honda Formula Four Stroke Series (HF4S) that returns to the city in June.

"The city has secured the HF4S Championships, the Artemis Transat and the Round Britain so we are slowly getting Plymouth restored back to the renowned maritime arena it once was which is fantastic and really puts Plymouth back on the world map," states Richard. "The aim of this weekend is to bring together water sport enthusiasts from across the region to have some fun and to get everyone's engines running so to speak before these great events start over the next few months."

The response to Richard's 'informal gathering' has been great with at least 9 boats already confirmed as attending including three local powerboat teams Negotiator, Notorious and Scream-it.com who all race in the HF4S along with several boats that race in the OCR Series and who are also racing here in Plymouth alongside the HF4S in June.

"I am really pleased at how well this has been received considering that it is really only by word of mouth that the people have been made aware of the proposed weekend. It started as a pre racing season get together but with the numbers now joining me I think that it will be quite a weekend for not only the teams but anyone who happens to be near the Sound this weekend will get a full display of unofficial power boating!"

The weekend kick starts on Saturday morning at 10.30am from Queen Anne's Battery. Anyone who wishes to join in this weekend simply has to launch their boat and meet up in the waters of the sound inside the breakwater between 10 and 11am!
