Spirit win but championship leaders finish 2nd Posted On: 12 Aug 2007 - 16:11 | In what was considered to be a must win GP for Spirit of Norway the home team delivered. But championship leaders Victory 77 finished just 9 seconds behind to keep the initiative as we approach the half way stage of the season. Also staking a claim for the title are Qatar 96 who crossed the line in third. Full story will follow later. |
Full reaction from Oslo Qualifying Posted On: 11 Aug 2007 - 17:54 | Bjorn Gjelsten and Steve Curtis, Spirit of Norway, will start the Scandinavian Grand Prix, round 3 of the WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, in Pole Position after going quickest in today's official qualifying session in Oslo.

WPPA still hopeful of teaming up with the UIM Posted On: 10 Aug 2007 - 21:11 | The World Professional Powerboat Association (WPPA) is hopeful they may eventually nudge their way back into the UIM fold in due course of time. Teams participating in the World Class One Powerboat Championship voted in favour of forming the WPPA on December 2, 2006 after a string of unsavoury brushes over a period of time with the UIM, the world governing body for watersport. Since then, the WPPA has gone about getting itself organized in putting a full eight-race world series together for this season.
