Greece may not hold a GP in 2008

Courtesy Of Class-1.com Athens may not figure on the WPPA Class One World Powerboat Championship when the 2008 calendar is chalked out later this year. Considering the severe lapses emanating from the local organizer at the season-opening Greek Grand Prix in June this year, the WPPA Council was unanimous in its decision to drop the venue for next season.

Oslo ready to race

Courtesy Of Class-1.com Bjorn Gjelsten and Steve Curtis were the early pace setters in today's first official practice session for Sunday's Scandinavia Grand Prix, round 3 of the WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, with Spirit of Norway posting the fastest time of 2mins 31.82secs around the 4.6Nm course on Oslo fjord, on their final lap of the session. Qatar 96's Sheikh Hassan and Matteo Nicolini went second fastest, three seconds adrift with championship leader's Arif Al Zaffen and Jean-Marc Sanchez, a further three seconds behind, posting the third fastest time, but ending the session prematurely with a broken engine.

Courtesy of Class-1.com Victory 77's Arif Saif Al Zafeen and Jean-Marc Sanchez will be looking to continue their imperious start to the season and bolster their World and European title aspirations by extending their lead in the world championship, with a third straight win of the year in the Scandinavian Grand Prix in Oslo, round 3 of the WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, and at the same time become the first team to win three consecutive races at the start of the season.

Qatar team look to repeat prior success in Oslo

Courtesy of Class-1.com Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani is relishing the prospect of a return to racing in Oslo at the Scandinavian Grand Prix - round 3 of the WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championship (Sunday, 12 August) - the scene of his maiden Grand Prix win with Matteo Nicolini in 2004, and the last time the city staged a round of the World Championship.
