Luca is an experienced racer, designer and builder of raceboats who, alongside his brother Matteo runs Nicolini Offshore. He made his powerboat racing debut in the Italian, Class 3, 4 litre Championship with Team Asti Tosti in 1987. The following year he stepped up to Class 2, winning the European and South American Championships, retaining his title for the next three years and adding the Class 2 Italian title in 1991 and the Class 2 World title in 1992. Luca has enjoyed a diverse career on the water. He set the Class 2 World Speed Record in 1989, made his Class 1 debut in Dubai in 1993, the same year winning the Venice-Monte Carlo and two years later the Rimini-Viareggio endurance races. In 2001 he rejoined the Class 2 ranks, taking third in the World Championship before moving over to ProVee, finishing second overall in 2002, going on win the title with Ricardo Brkovic in 2004 and competing in two races in Class 3, 6litre with Matteo in 2006 to help lift the tile.
