Nicola made his Class 1 driving debut in Fujairah in 2000, teaming up with his father, Gianni. The pairing stayed together in 2001 contesting the championship in the ex Molinari cat. In 2002 Gianni stepped out of the boat to focus on managing the team and Nicola teamed up with Tomaso Polli, switching to throttleman duties. The following year he shared the cockpit with four different drivers and in 2004 moved into a Cougar hull to partner Mauro Esperto, reforming his partnership with Tomaso in 2005, forming a new partnership with Pal Nilsen last year. Nicola is a self proclaimed 'adrenalin' junkie and has competed in Tout Terrain (off road rally raid) with Tomaso in Team Mitsubishi and enjoys snow boarding, windsurfing and parachuting.
